Guidance at Arlington is designed to be a preventative and needs focused program. Teacher, parent, and student initiated referrals aid in the process of meeting the counseling needs of the student population.

Counseling Goals at Arlington:

·To guide students through social, emotional, and academic challenges

·To help students build self confidence and develop to his/her full potential

·To encourage students to be lifelong learners

·To consult with parents, teachers, administrators and community agencies to better understand and meet the needs of students through a collaborative effort

·To incorporate a comprehensive guidance curriculum with regard to life long skills, social skills, and study skills

·To help identify students with special needs and ensure an appropriate educational program

·To provide crisis intervention when necessary

Welcome to my web page. My name is Jennifer VanLouvender and I am the Elementary School Counselor here at Arlington Elementary. I have been working as a school counselor here since 2000. I earned a dual Bachelor’s Degree from Lycoming College and earned my Master’s Degree in Elementary School Counseling from Marywood University. Since working at Arlington, I have also earned a second Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Canyon College. On a personal note, I currently live in the Pocono’s with my husband, daughter, son and cat. I enjoy traveling, reading, swimming and the outdoors. I look forward to working with you and your family.
