Academic Programs

Reading Support

Reading support services are provided to students in grades K-4 who need extra help with their reading. Students receive supplemental instruction from a reading specialist in a small group setting. First graders may be eligible for participation in the Reading Recovery program, which provides intense daily one-on-one instruction designed to accelerate the child's reading progress. Arlington’s Reading Support Teachers are Mrs. Bassett and Mrs. Chalfant.

Mrs. Green and Mrs. Staples are the speech teachers for Arlington and several other Stroudsburg schools. They support students with delays in articulation, concept knowledge, receptive vocabulary and/or language, and expressive vocabulary and/or language.

The ESL (English as a Second Language) Program for ELLs (English Language Learners) is a language development and reinforcement program. The program's goal is to develop and/or improve ELL students' comprehension in listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. The ESL specialists work toward preparing the ELL student to function successfully with content area subjects in a general classroom environment. If you have any questions please contact Mrs. Voorhis here at Arlington Elementary.
